“The past is now part of my future”, Joy Division’s Ian Curtis once said. Surely he couldn’t have known how true those words would ring at the time. The troubled vocalist’s tragic death turned him into an icon whose legacy lives on not only among the generations of fans but especially in the music he made with his now-legendary band that has gone on to inspire countless bands and artists over the decades. This inspired us to stage Heart & Soul, a tribute to Ian Curtis reflected not just through Joy Division’s limited yet incredibly impacting repertoire, but also the songs of the band’s peers and ‘disciples’ – a musical journey through post-punk that starts in the late 70s and brings us to the present day!
